Professor Norman Harnby

Prof. Harnby was until recently the Deputy Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bradford and is currently Visiting Professor at the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering at the University of Leeds.
He has been active in powder mixing research for over thirty years and throughout this period has also been active in industry as both a consultant and as a presenter of in-house training sessions. He presents public four-day courses on ‘Powder Mixing Technology’ for the American Center for Professional Advancement in both Amsterdam and New Jersey.
Prior to his academic career he was employed by I.C.I. Ltd. in roles of plant operation and design and has been the recipient of both a NATO Research Travel Scholarship and a Senior Fulbright Scholarship.
He is the editor and co-author of the text-book ‘Mixing in the Process Industries’ and is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
He received a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Bradford.
